
James C. Bourke, CPA.CITP, WS+B Partner , has been named one of the accounting profession’s “Top 100 Most Influential People” for a second year in a row, making Accounting Today magazine’s 2009 list. Published in the September 21 issue, the list acknowledges those who exemplify influence and leadership within the accounting industry. Accounting Today is a national publication serving over 35,000 professionals.
“This is a highly regarded list within our industry,” says WS+B managing partner, Ivan Brown. “Jim is a great ambassador to the accounting profession and we congratulate him on this well deserved honor once again."
Jim is based in WS+B’s Red Bank office, and is the Practice Leader of the firm’s Technology and Communications Group. In this role, he is charged with providing specialized technical guidance and support to WS+B’s clients within these industries and leading the firm’s initiatives and resources in these sectors. Jim is also the Director of Firm Technology, responsible for overseeing all technology issues and operations for the firm’s thirteen offices and 400 employees.
In 2006-2007, Bourke served as President of the 14,500 member New Jersey Society of CPAs (NJSCPA), the youngest person ever to hold that position. He currently chairs the American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA) Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) Credential Committee and is a member of AICPA Council, the AICPA’s Life and Disability Committee and the AICPA’s Top Technologies Workgroup.
Bourke is a frequent presenter to many professional and business organizations on issues of technology, and has authored numerous articles for Accounting Today, Practical Accountant Magazine, Accounting Technology Magazine, NJBIZ and many State Society related publications throughout the country. He is also the current author of a monthly technology column appearing in the AICPA’s CPA Insider publication, and he sits on the technology advisory board of The Journal of Accountancy, the premier publication for the industry.
