Albert L. Gutierrez Joins Withum as a Senior Policy Advisor
With a career in healthcare that has spanned more than 40 years, Mr. Gutierrez recently retired from Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in December 2016. The SJRMC health system has been named one of the Most Wired hospitals in the United States for its progress towards greater health information technology, as well as ranked by Truven Analytics as one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems, and Top 5 for Small Health Systems. Additionally, the SJRMC-Plymouth campus has been named 100 Top Hospitals for the Small Community Hospitals category all achieved during his tenure.
In March 2012, Gutierrez was named as one of the nation’s Top 25 Minority Executives by “Modern Healthcare Magazine”—a prestigious award that began in 2006, and is presented only once every two years. Mr. Gutierrez is involved with the Latino Community and serves on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Latino Studies at the University of Notre Dame. In June 2012, Mr. Gutierrez was selected for the Trinity Health Father Basile Antoine Moreau CEO Diversity & Inclusion Champion Award, one that recognizes leaders who demonstrate a pattern of commitment to diversity initiatives in all aspects of the workplace environment. He is also a current member of the Centier Bank Board of Directors with headquarters in Indiana.
Gutierrez previously served as the President and Chief Executive Officer at Shore Memorial Hospital in New Jersey, where he was employed for 25 years. He is Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (R). Gutierrez has had four gubernatorial appointments in New Jersey and was the chair of the Policy Committee for the Health Information Technology Commission of New Jersey, and a Health Care industry representative on the Governor’s Blue-Ribbon Panel on Immigration Policy. Prior to joining Withum Mr. Gutierrez served on AHA Regional Policy Board 5 for Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.
